Soha Saghazadeh (PhD Candidate in Film and Media Studies and CMES Grad Fellow) received the Honorable Mention for the MESA Graduate Student Paper Prize for their paper “Drone Recirculations: Iran’s Reverse-Engineering Warfare”.
The selection committee noted that Soha's interdisciplinary paper is a "fascinating study of politics and drone warfare through the lens of science and technology studies," which "brings together news reports, diplomatic statements, and technical discussions of science while holding them to a rigorous theoretical scrutiny" and contributes to emerging scholarship "on aviation, aerospace, and technology, still a nascent area of interest in Middle East Studies."
