The CMES Student Leadership Award is given to a student who has in particularly innovative and creative ways contributed significantly to the quality of CMES student life at UCSB. The 2024 recipient was Jwan Haddad, a 4th year Sociology Major. "Rigorous, committed, disciplined, and relentless," noted CMES Director Sherene Seikaly, "this year's recipient, Jwan Haddad, has taught us many things. Thoughtful and capacious, generous and grounded, she has led us in the most difficult of years."
